Happy Birthday, Stephen Bogart!

Her relationship with Humphrey Bogart was highly sexual.
On set for ‘To Have and Have Not’ (1945), where she and Bogart (then married to his third wife Mayo Methot) first got together, director Hawks would call breaks in filming to allow the couple to disperse the sexual energy between them. They would emerge later from Bogart’s dressing room, flushed and smiling, then filming would continue.

"90% of the actresses are the dullest broads in town. They have no appeal for me whatsoever, and that goes for Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell and Gina Lollobrigida. In fact, the only actress in town with true allure is Lauren Bacall".
-Humphrey Bogart (Orange Coast magazine).

"Because he was going through a difficult period with his wife, Mayo Methot, a talented actress who was hitting the bottle too much, he was often grouchy and irritable. He was also being underpaid. Despite Bogie's complaints and my own changes, trying to improve each scene, I was enjoying each day".Kaaren Verne and Humphrey Bogart in All Through the Night (1941) directed by Vincent Sherman

"Offscene, many happenings also kept things bubbling. Peter Lorre and Kaaren Verne fell in love and eventually got married after Peter divorced his wife, a gracious actress named Celia Lovsky. Bogie and Mayo had a series of drunken brawls. One morning he came in looking awful. I asked what happened "I came home late last night", he said, "and that bitch of mine locked me out. I had to sleep on the front lawn and damn near froze my ass off". It was not too long before they were divorced" - Studio affairs: my life as a film director By Vincent Sherman

"[Stephen] Bogart was only 8 years old when his father died from cancer of the esophagus, and says he doesn’t remember much about him.

“I remember him en toto, as a person, but nothing specific”, he said. “He was working all the time and on the weekends he went out on the boat, Santana. I remember his look, and him wearing a brown jacket. I remember a lunch at Romanoffs. We didn’t do a lot together. Oh, and I remember going to Catalina Island.”

“You know it all depends on how you measure success,” he said. “I’ve got a job. I’m doing some things. I got three great kids.” Source: www.wptv.com

Smoking provokes cancer, guilty glamorous smoking pics

Jake Gyllenhaal walks passing an anti-smoking warning while visiting the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Hospital on 27th December 2010

Acting like a bad boy, smoking non-chalantly is cool on-screen (see Jake Gyllenhaal's character Tommy Cahill in "Brothers" with Natalie Portman) but in real life cancer isn't cool at all, Jake is a healthy role model in real life (I don't see him smoking in any recent paparazzi picture that I remember), but yeah, these people (see below) looked so glamorous smoking, maybe you feel a bit guilty:

Jake Gyllenhaal on the closing Night of 'Fela!' on Broadway on 2nd January, 2011

"Though they celebrated Thanksgiving together, Swift, 21, was reportedly solo when she rang in the New Year in Nashville, while Gyllenhaal, 30, went stag to a closing party in New York for Broadway’s “Fela!” the following day.
Though the pair’s age difference raised eyebrows from skeptics, the couple never seemed to have a problem.According to Us Weekly, Swift was “smitten” with the actor, who in turn liked how “sweet, low-key and very easy” the singer was to be around.
Gyllenhaal has always seemed to have a thing for blonds – he previously dated actresses Reese Witherspoon and Kirsten Dunst. Meanwhile, Gyllenhaal isn’t the first older guy Swift has gone for – her romance with John Mayer was allegedly documented in her recent hit song “Dear John.” Source: www.celebritymound.com

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will attend People's Choice Awards 2011

"Robert Pattinson will join Twilight Saga co-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner at the People’s Choice Awards, a rep for the show confirms to Gossip Cop.
But wait, there’s more…

Gossip Cop is told exclusively by a source close to Pattinson that the actor is flying from the Breaking Dawn set in Louisiana to the awards show in L.A., just “for an hour, then back to the set.”
We have a gut feeling Pattinson won’t be leaving the People’s Choice Awards empty-handed.

The show’s expansive guest list also includes Taylor Swift, Natalie Portman, Katy Perry, Zac Efron and dozens of other celebs.
The awards will be broadcast live on Wednesday from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles at 9:00 p.m. on CBS. Source: www.gossipcop.com

Ennis and Jack ("Brokeback Mountain") in the top film characters of the 2000's

(2003) Capt. Jack Sparrow

Johnny Depp almost single-handedly saved the lavish Jerry Bruckheimer-produced theme-park-ride movie "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" with his flamboyant portrayal of Capt. Jack Sparrow. Despite giant pirate ships and intricate sword fights, Depp's stumbling and mumbling Sparrow was by far the most eye-popping effect in the film and instantly became a classic.

(2005) Ennis and Jack

The tent. The look. Ennis and Jack (the late Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, respectively) struggled to maintain a forbidden relationship in "Brokeback Mountain," which won Oscars and racked up box office dollars. The lead actors' performances bled into mainstream consciousness as Jack's line "I wish I knew how to quit you" entered the general vernacular.
(2006) Borat

Sacha Baron Cohen originally created this bombastic Kazakh TV reporter for a British comedy show in the mid-'90s, but most people discovered him when he came to the big screen in this " documentary" about life in the United States. Deftly blurring the line between fiction and reality, Cohen used the character to goad unsuspecting people into behaving in ridiculous ways — usually to point out the underlying racism and/or hypocrisy.

(2007) Juno

There were movies in 2007 that grossed more money and won more Oscars, but the pregnant, wisecracking teenager played by Ellen Page in director Jason Reitman's "Juno" captured filmgoers' imaginations. As the films around her got bigger, with the effects often dwarfing the humans, the simplicity of Juno's predicament reminded everyone that the movies are about people more than things.
(2008) The Joker

Ledger's death cast a long shadow over his final completed screen role in Christopher Nolan's " The Dark Knight." But this did nothing to diminish the power of his performance as Batman's archnemesis and probably added to the haunting quality of a character with no past, no morals and one of the creepiest smiles in cinema history.
